Now, of all names....

Dolek. Pungkik. Wejok. Parga. These are a few examples of some weird (nick)names belong to some people I know. But as far as real names are concerned, the weirdest I found so far would have to be Fajar Misteri (as per in that person's MyKad ok!)....

But today, I have just found another one that just beats Fajar Misteri. An absolute winner in this weird name competition.

Aku and Marul, we were at the Kelana Jaya LRT station's 7-Eleven earlier this afternoon, on our way to the gym in Uptown Damansara. We grabbed ourselves some bottled drinks and headed straight to the cashier. Masa aku tengah beratur tunggu giliran nak bayar, that was when I saw the cashier's nametag pinned on the right side of her shirt. I looked at her face. Dah berumur aku rasa. A makcik I would say. She was having this sad-and-gloomy look on her face and believe me, I am not trying to be rude or anything, but that look somehow corresponds with her name and that made me wanted to laugh my guts out. I tahan myself from sharing what I saw with Marul (who was paying in front of me) cuz there was no way I could say it in front of the makcik. I finished paying for my drinks and made my exit.

Aku: Marul, kau perasan tak apa yang aku nampak?

Marul: Nama cashier tu kan?

And we laughed.

Guys, nama makcik cashier tu DERITA.

Sorry guys, I am not trying to make the makcik a laughing stock here. No bad intentions whatsoever. Just wanting to share something interesting, weird and kind of coincidentally funny at the same time. Muka makcik tu sedih gile, then nama pulak mcm tu....adoi la....

Well, I guess people do have really weird names kan. Secara ironiknya, nama tu adalah kepunyaan kita tetapi bukan pilihan kita untuk menentukannya (unless lepas cukup umur kita pergi JPN apply utk tukar nama la kan, which is a different thing altogether).

Aku doakan Makcik Derita akan happy selalu hendaknya, Insya Allah.

***But then again, what's in a name kan. Kalau nama elok, cantik, mulia tapi perangai teruk pun buat apa....
